He is the current Prime Minister of Somalia. Mohamed was born in Mogadishu, Somalia in 1962 to a Marehan Darod family. Nicknamed "Farmajo", he hails from the Gedo region in the south. Mohamed holds both Somali and American citizenship. He is married to Zeinab Moallim, with whom he has four children; two sons and two daughters, aged 7 to 19. Mohamed was educated in the United States. Between 1989 and 1993, he completed a Bachelor's degree in history from the State University of New York at Buffalo in Buffalo, New York. He followed that in 2009 with a Master's degree in Political Science from SUNY Buffalo. His dissertation was titled: "U.S. Strategic Interest in Somalia: From the Cold War Era to the War on Terror."
