There is a relatively large population of people of Brazilian, Filipino, Peruvian, and mixed descent, and the city is the home of some Americans and Australians. The total area is 65.84 km². The city was founded on March 15, 1954. Yuuki is famous for traditional Japanese weavings including cloth and paper, and has a rich religious history with many older Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines.
