Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Hermes Bulletin Board Software was first released in 1989 as one of the early bulletin board system applications available for the Macintosh computer. With an interface based largely on WWIV BBS for MS-DOS, Hermes offered an alternative to Red Ryder Host that offered better support for multi-line BBSes and a more complete out-of-the-box configuration. It also offered the ability for SysOps to maintain their BBSes remotely, and offered an application programming interface for external application developers to extend the system.
