Material is the basic element of the entire natural and manmade structures. With the technological leaps in recent times, focus has been on development of composite materials. These materials have drawn considerable attention of engineers due to their application at high thermo-mechanical loads. With regard to the prediction of the life of high temperature structural components like rotating cylinders and the evaluation of their deterioration with time, it is essential to have a full knowledge of creep characteristics of these materials. Therefore, the steady state creep stresses and creep rates are estimated in thick-walled composite cylinders rotating at different angular speeds. The study revealed that with the increase in angular speed, the radial, tangential, axial and effective stress increases to a large extent. The radial stress is zero at inner radius as well as at outer radius due to imposed boundary conditions of zero pressure. The increase in the magnitude of effective / tangential/ radial strain rate is more at outer boundary as compared to inner boundary of thick-walled rotating composite cylinder. The cylinder life will reduce if it has to operate at larger centrifugal loads.
