Anotações e citações/ texto breve:
In 1960 measures were implemented by the World Anti-Doping Agency that revolutionised the strategy to combat doping in sport, but the scourge continues today. The study sought to understand the relationship between global socio-economic indicators and positive cases of doping in world football.Methodologically, we used quantitative methods. The data were obtained from official sources. We used descriptive statistics, hypothesis tests, correlations and analysis of variance (One-Way ANOVA). The results show more countries without positive cases (n=126) than with positive doping cases (n=58). The 2-tailed Sig. shows a p < 0.05, so the t-test shows statistically significant differences between all the variables analyzed and the number of doping cases, except for the unemployment rate and the Gini coefficient for a 95% confidence interval. We conclude that: 1) the higher the human capital and the perception of corruption the lower the consumption of doping; 2) the higher the human development index and the happiness index, the higher the consumption of doping; and 3) the unemployment rate and the Gini coefficient showed no statistical difference.
