Abu Gosch ist ein arabisches Dorf mit ca. 7000 Einwohnern , das ca. 10 km westlich von Jerusalem direkt nördlich der Nationalstraße 1 Richtung Tel Aviv liegt. Nach jüdischer Überlieferung handelt es sich bei Abu Gosch um den Ort Kirjat Je'arim, wo die Bundeslade nach der Rückgabe durch die Philister untergebracht war. Von Abu Gosch aus soll Richard Löwenherz erstmals Jerusalem erblickt haben. In Abu Gosch existierte im 9. bis 11. Jahrhundert n.Chr. sowie im 14. und 15. Jahrhundert eine große Karawanserei.
