Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The first extrasolar X-ray source in the constellation Sagittarius detected by a research group at the Naval Research Laboratory using an Aerobee 150 sounding rocket was designated Sagittarius XR-1, or Sgr XR-1. The Aerobee 150 was launched on June 16, 1964, from the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, USA. The rocket reached a peak altitude of 127 km and rolled with a period of ~8.5 s, precessed at 422 s, with a precession cone angle=144°, resulting in an estimated accuracy of position of 1.5°. Sgr XR-1 was confirmed during the later Aerobee 150 flight on November 25, 1964.
