Sir David Brand KCMG (1 August 1912 – 15 April 1979) was the 19th and longest serving Premier of Western Australia and a Member of the Legislative Assembly from 1945 to 1975. Brand was born in Dongara, Western Australia, the eldest of four children of Albert John Brand, a farmer, and his wife Hilda née Mitchell, whose father Samuel Mitchell was a prominent Cornish Australian geologist and member of the Legislative Council (1884-85) and represented Murchison in the Legislative Assembly (1897-1901).
