Nach IUPAC ist die Namensgebung auch durch Voranstellen von "Hydroxyimino" erlaubt. Oxime kann man aus Hydroxylamin oder dessen Hydrochlorid und Carbonylverbindungen wie Aldehyden und Ketonen erhalten. Aldoxime (R ≠ H, R' = H) und Ketoxime (R ≠ R') können als (E)- oder (Z)-Form vorliegen, die unterschiedlich reaktiv sind.[1] Die (E)-Form wird auch trans-Form, die (Z)-Form als cis-Form bezeichnet.
