Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. There have been two Baronetcies created for persons with the surname Bates, both in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. Both creations are extant as of 2010. The Bates Baronetcy, of Bellefield in the County of Lancaster, was created in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom on 13 May 1880 for Edward Bates, Conservative Member of Parliament for Plymouth. The fourth Baronet was Chairman of the Cunard Steam Ship Company and High Sheriff of Cheshire in 1920. The fifth Baronet was High Sheriff of Flintshire in 1969 and was decorated with an MC in 1942. The presumed seventh Baronet has not proven his succession and is consequently not on the Official Roll of the Baronetage.
