Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Wang Zheng (born 14 December 1987) is a female hammer thrower from PR China. Her personal best throw is 70.07 metres, achieved in April 2008 in Hangzhou. She finished ninth at the 2006 World Junior Championships. She competed at the 2008 Olympic Games without reaching the final round. The modern or Olympic hammer throw is an athletic throwing event where the object is to throw a heavy metal ball attached to a wire and handle. The name "hammer throw" is derived from older competitions where an actual sledge hammer was thrown. Such competitions are still part of the Scottish Highland Games, where the implement used is a steel or lead weight at the end of a cane handle.
