Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Sevastopol was the last of three ships in the Petropavlovsk class of pre-dreadnought battleships built for the Imperial Russian Navy and commissioned into First Pacific Squadron of the Pacific Fleet. She was captained by Nikolai Essen and Nikolai Chernishev and was named after the major battle at Sevastopol during the Crimean War. During her short career, Sevastopol saw service in the Russo-Japanese War, taking part in battles against the Imperial Japanese Navy. Along with several minor failed sorties, which ended in Japanese counterattacks, Sevastopol participated in the Battle of the Yellow Sea, where she was damaged by several shells. During the Siege of Port Arthur, she was scuttled and never raised. What remains of the ship is currently located outside the entrance to Port Arthur.
