Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The 106th Regiment of Foot (Bombay Light Infantry) was an infantry regiment of the British Army from 1862 to 1881, when it was amalgamated into The Durham Light Infantry, which was itself later amalgamated into the Rifles. The regiment was originally raised by the Honourable East India Company in 1839 as the 2nd Bombay (European) Regiment, redesignated the 2nd Bombay (European) Light Infantry in 1844, and served in the Anglo-Persian War and the Indian Mutiny of 1857. As with all other "European" units of the Company, they were placed under the command of the Crown in 1858, and formally moved into the British Army in 1862, ranked as the 106th Foot.
