Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. A 3D television is a television that employs techniques of 3D presentation, such as stereoscopic capture, multi view capture, or 2D plus depth, and a 3D display—a special viewing device to project a television program into a realistic three-dimensional field. 3D episodes became moderately popular in the late 1990s when several shows in the USA used the technique to attract viewers and increase ratings.Stereoscopic viewing is based on delivery of slightly different images to each eye. MasterImage 3D is based on the projector alternately flashing frames for each eye at high speed. This is similar to the system used by the competing brand RealD 3D. However, while RealD uses an electronic optical filter which "flips" back and forth between two types of polarization, Master Image uses a large spinning filter wheel device in front of the projector lens which is synchronized to the projected images. The filter wheel contains alternating segments of filter material for the two polarizations. The filter wheel lowers out of the optical path for non 3D material.
