The German submarine U-41 was a Type IXA U-boat of the German Kriegsmarine that operated during World War II. U-41 conducted three war patrols patrols during her short career, two as part of the 6. Unterseebootsflottille and one as part of the 2. Unterseebootsflottille. U-41 also sank 5 enemy vessels for a total of 22,815 gross register tons (GRT), captured two more ships for a total of 2,073 GRT and damaged 1 ship of 8,096 GRT. On 5 February 1940, U-41 was hit by depth charges from the British A-class destroyer HMS Antelope after sinking two enemy merchant vessels and was sunk off the south coast of Ireland. All 49 of U-41's crew members were lost with the ship during the attack. U-41 was ordered by the German Kriegsmarine on 21 November 1936 (as part of Plan Z and in violation of the Treaty of Versailles). She was laid down on 27 November 1937 by AG Weser, Bremen as Werk 946. U-41 was launched on 28 January 1939 and commissioned on 22 April of that same year under the command of Korvettenkapitän Gustav-Adolf Mugler.
