Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Vilnius Region (Lithuanian: Vilniaus kraštas), refers to the territory in the present day Lithuania, that was inhabited by the ethnic Baltic tribes and was a part of Lithuania proper, but came under East Slavic and Polish cultural influences over time, and became disputed between Poland and Lithuania in the early 20th century. It was granted to Lithuania by the Soviet-Lithuanian Treaty of 1920, but in 1920 it was occupied by Poland and became part of short lived puppet state of Central Lithuania later of the Second Polish Republic until 1939.
