He grew up in the Skåne province in southern Sweden. His mother, actress Gudrun Brost, worked at the Malmö City Theater. He followed in his mother’s footsteps and became a stage actor, working both in Malmö and Stockholm, and later starred in several movies and on TV. He biggest claim to fame in Sweden was the role of Joker, the bartender in the TV soap opera Rederiet, a long running drama show about a shipping company which conducts passenger traffic on the Baltic Sea. Brost has also starred as a villain in two Jönssonligan films. In 1991 he started doing stand-up comedy. Although mostly known as a comedic actor, Brost has been in some more serious dramatic films.
