Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Jembrana disease is a viral disease of cattle. Its first documented outbreak occurred in 1964 in Indonesia, affecting Bali cattle (Bos javanicus). The virus belongs to the Lentivirae, commonly Lentivirus, which include immunodeficiency viruses such as HIV. There is at least one strain that has been sequenced (see references).Basic structural characteristics, such as genome type, virion shape and replication site, generally share the same features among virus species within the same family. There are currently 21 families of viruses known to cause disease in humans.
